A friend having lucid dreams

Email to a friend:

That's a very good question, and my answer is "I don't know, but you're on the right track". Lucid dreams are supposed to be the last step before OBEs, so if it wasn't an OBE, you're very much in the right area.

The part about the man sitting on you seems to be a common thing w/ OBEs, but I haven't experienced that myself.

My experience with OBEs that spring out of lucid dreams is that I'm a little more drowsy than I am if the OBE happens directly from laying down, they are a little more dreamlike. It's a bit more work, but if you can prove to yourself that you're awake, then I'd just keep exploring the local environment, like you did with the ceiling.

I've "proven" this to myself by asking myself simple questions, like "What is 2+2?", "Who is the president?", and that sort of thing. So step one is this, making sure you are fully conscious. Step 2 is "start exploring!" :)

I think congratulations are in order, or will be very soon. I won't say that this will happen for you every night, but I've found that once the OBEs start, they will happen again, and again, like you've opened a locked door.
