All carbs == no brainpower
Today I was reminded that a diet of strictly carbs, with very little protein, is not good for the brain. After a good night's sleep, I ended up eating crap all day, including cookies, granola, and then pasta for lunch. By the time 3 p.m. came by my brain was dead, and I still had another three hours of work to go.
Last week I experimented by having protein every morning during breakfast, and took fish oil capsules, multivitamins, and extra b-complex during the day, and even with less sleep, I felt great each day.
So, lesson learned: protein in the morning (and possibly extra nutrients) makes a big difference in how well my brain functions at work.
