Succeeded at the card test again
For at least the sixth or seventh time, I have succeeded at the "card test". Last night's card was the two of hearts, which I clearly saw in a dream and documented at least three hours before waking up and going to see what card was in the living room.
Unlike seeing the card in an OBE as I have done before, I was able to get this to work last night for the first time in the normal dream state, which is very cool.
The card test
The card test is simple:
- Shuffle a deck of cards.
- Close your eyes.
- Shuffle the deck some more.
- Pull a card from anywhere in the deck, and place it face-up somewhere far away from your bedroom.
- With your eyes still closed, place the deck down, turn around, and walk away. Don't open your eyes until you're far away from the card.
Now, all you have to do is "see" the card in a dream or OBE, record what you saw, then validate what you saw by walking out and looking at the card. (I write "all you have to do" jokingly there.) You can do this immediately after your vision, or wait until your normal waking time, as I did this morning.
(I have to say, if you can go back to sleep after seeing a card in a vision the first time you do it, you're either a very calm person, or lacking in enthusiasm. The first time I did this I ran down the stairs to my kitchen, saw the card, then flipped out, in a good way.)
No guessing: The important thing here is that you don't "guess". You either see the card or you won't. If you don't see it, you don't see it. That's how it works. If you do see it, it will be clear and obvious, so you wake yourself up, right it down, then verify it. If you're guessing about vague impressions you're receiving, well, that's not how it works for me. I either see it, or I don't see it.
As mentioned, I've done this six or seven times now, without being wrong once. I don't know what the odds of that are, but you have a 1 in 52 chance of doing it right once, and I've done it at least six times. I believe the odds of doing this six times are 52 to the sixth power, which is 1 in 19.8 billion. I don't know if this is correct, but I'll try to find my statistics book later today and verify it as well.
I'll add more about this later today, but for now, it's Monday morning, and I need to get to work. Suffice it to say for now that this test was inspired by reading the book "An Experiment With Time" over the last few nights.
On a related note, I don't know if the book is any good, but "After the Ecstasy, the Laundry", sure is a terrific title for a book.
