Dreams of family members

August 22, 2011

I haven't had any time to write lately, and don't have much this morning, so I'll keep this brief.

About five days ago I had a nightmare about one of my family members, and jotted a note about it in the notebook I keep by the bed. I hadn't spoken with her in a while, I don't remember exactly how long, but it was certainly days and possibly weeks. The next day she sent an email saying she would need surgery.

Three days ago I had a bizarre dream that left me laying in bed wondering what the heck that was all about. A series of distant family members were engulfed in huge waves, like tidal waves. If I had time, I was going to post a note here wondering what a dream like that could be inferring, if it could be some sort of metaphor for something.

Yesterday I learned that one of the people in that dream has cancer, and everyone in that dream is close to that person, and will be affected by this in the coming months. Just another coincidence?

The timing of this dream is also interesting. I learned that this person has cancer after talking to a close family member. She learned of the cancer the afternoon before my dream, but other family members may have known about this for several days. So, assuming this "tidal wave" dream is related to this person having cancer, the implication seems to be that I didn't know about it directly, but dreamt of it because this close family member learned of it.

(As for last night, I apparently took the night off, and most dreams were about sex. This first was with a pretty young woman with sandy brown hair (presumably inspired by a new neighbor I met yesterday), and the second was with a woman with thin, straight, black hair, after we broke into some sort of building. I'm not going to read too much into these dreams.)
