Cowboys, aliens, and snakes

May 4, 2012

I caught up on my sleep yesterday, then started listening to some Monroe recordings while sitting in a recliner. After that I got up and felt like sleeping on my bean bag chair, which I keep in my favorite part of the apartment, a place that "feels good" (just like Carlos Castaneda on don Juan's porch). From that time until 2am, it was an incredibly wild ride.

I didn't record any dreams, besides me being wide awake in the dreams, and even touching things to note how real they felt, but I distinctly recall three things from the dreams:

While nothing became of the song lyrics, today I saw my first snake in many, many years, probably going back to about 2005. It did its slithering/winding thing, going across a road I was walking on while talking on my cellphone. The snake wasn't very large, but it startled me because it slithered right in front of my path, not more than 10-15 feet in front of me.

I wouldn't have thought too much of the dream and the snake by itself, but when I told the other person on the phone about the snake, she made a reference to the movie, Cowboys and Aliens. That's such an obscure movie that for me to dream about it, and then have someone else say something about it to me after I mention a snake seems to be an extraordinary coincidence.

In other news, I've decided to start recording my dreams again. I don't recall why I ever stopped doing this, other than making an effort to record them requires a little more sleep at night, because you're constantly waking yourself up.

(If it seems like I'm writing faster and more cryptically than normal, I am. I also need to get some work done, but I wanted to make these notes here first.)
