A head in the hallway
In the strangest thing that's happened to me in quite a while, I woke up during the night rolled over, looked down the hallway of the place I'm staying in, and saw a head.
A person's head.
Floating in the hallway.
It scared the crap out of me, and as I got more frightened it faded away. The whole incident probably lasted only a few seconds, maybe 2-3 seconds, definitely less than five seconds.
If I had to guess who's face it was, I would guess it was of a girl/woman I last saw in the 1980s, Katherine H., but that's just a guess.
There's not much else to add ... for me there was no "feeling" associated with this, other than the initial fear. Sadly the head/face disappeared before I could calm down. I guess if I had a feeling of anything at all besides the fear, it was a quick feeling of, "I'm scaring you, you're not ready for this," and then I felt regret as it faded away.
I know I was awake and not dreaming at this time because my intent was to get up and go to the bathroom. After a few more moments of wondering what the heck just happened, I did get up and walk down the hallway, but by that time everything seemed normal.
Also, the dream I had just before waking up had nothing to do with anything like this, or her.
A little later
Because I have a big project going on in my work world right now, an interesting/funny part of events like this is that you just have to keep moving on. You wake up a little while later, write a blog post about what happened, and then you get to work. There's no time for analyzing or over-analyzing, you just keep moving.
I remember when I used to work with other people and things happened at night, they might ask, "How was your night?", or "What did you do last night?" I always skipped the "special effects" stories and just gave them some other answer.
