Dreams of the family, and 11 people drowning
Lots of packing and moving activity lately (I'm moving back to Alaska next week), but I just wanted to note lots of dreams of the family lately, and the thought this morning I had as I was waking up of 11 people drowning. FWIW, the family dreams have included my father, who passed away 16 years ago.
Another dream of a song
Quick note: Another wonderful song in the dreams this morning. Sorry, I was too lazy to record it, but it was a really terrific pop/love song by a female artist I don't know. I was humming it during a bathroom break during the middle of the night, and assumed I'd remember it in the morning, but of course I didn't, lol.
Split-screen dream!
I'm not feeling very well at the moment, but I wanted to note that this afternoon was the first time I ever had a "split screen" dream. It was a very vivid dream, and I was seeing two stories at once, one on the left, and another on the right. I couldn't focus on both at the same time, but I could move my attention from one to the other. This has never happened before, and it was bizarre, and amazing.
Dream follows real-world event by 30 hours
Last night I had another incident where a dream followed something back here in the physical world by the 24-48 hour time window I've mentioned here before. (Actually, earlier I wrote that dreams follow physical world events by 36-48 hours.) Thursday night, probably around 9pm, I watched an episode of Fringe that involved both small and large worms, and then last night (Friday night to Saturday morning) I had a dream involving worms.
A little flying in dreams again
Yippee, a little low-level flying in my dreams again last night. :) It has been a little while since I did this last, and it's always a great feeling and experience. The dreams throughout the night were all action/adventure dreams that I couldn't make sense of, but the flying was great.
Falling asleep is like having two preset radio stations
Wow, many thanks to a friend who helped me out with this analogy.
What I go through sometimes when I go to sleep -- as in last night's dream sequence -- is what would happen to you if you were in a dark room, listening to a radio station with your eyes closed, and then someone presses a preset button and changes the radio to another channel. Immediately you are listening to a totally different broadcast.
Dreams of a song, being drilled in the head, and a dog named Luther
I was a little sick yesterday, and also felt very "ungrounded" as they would say at TMI, more 'there' than 'here'. If you've never felt ungrounded, common descriptions include feeling "out of it", inability to concentrate, a feeling that you can't wake up, and very likely a desire to vomit. I had all of those yesterday, so I figured last night would be pretty entertaining.
A long night of violent dreams
Besides my tornado-like weather dream last night, everything else was also violent in one form or another. First, a recurring dream of two men I interpreted to be spies meeting at a white, round table. They exchanged pleasantries, but they would soon try to kill each other.
He died peacefully in his sleep
Holy crap, whoever said the phrase "He died peacefully in his sleep" didn't have a night like this one. It's just after midnight, and I woke up after battling some kind of psychic or spiritual tornado, or simply a really bad dream. The wind was incredible, and the front door of the apartment was being blown open, and was finally blown open (or possibly ripped open), and while I held on to a corner of the wall, a large black bug moved rapidly towards me.
Dream of not catching a football on Super Bowl morning
I'm writing this the day after the Super Bowl, but on the morning of the Super Bowl, I dreamed that I was talking to Peyton Manning, and then a football was coming to me from my left, and I was on the ground, like being on my knees, and I had to catch this ball. The ball hit me in the hands and chest, but I couldn't grab it, and it bounced off to my right.
As I dove to my right for the ball in my dream, I woke up, and dove off my futon, and into a large box next to the futon. Other than fumbling the football, I thought this was pretty funny.
