Dreams of the family, and 11 people drowning

Lots of packing and moving activity lately (I'm moving back to Alaska next week), but I just wanted to note lots of dreams of the family lately, and the thought this morning I had as I was waking up of 11 people drowning. FWIW, the family dreams have included my father, who passed away 16 years ago.

Falling asleep is like having two preset radio stations

Wow, many thanks to a friend who helped me out with this analogy.

What I go through sometimes when I go to sleep -- as in last night's dream sequence -- is what would happen to you if you were in a dark room, listening to a radio station with your eyes closed, and then someone presses a preset button and changes the radio to another channel. Immediately you are listening to a totally different broadcast.

He died peacefully in his sleep

Holy crap, whoever said the phrase "He died peacefully in his sleep" didn't have a night like this one. It's just after midnight, and I woke up after battling some kind of psychic or spiritual tornado, or simply a really bad dream. The wind was incredible, and the front door of the apartment was being blown open, and was finally blown open (or possibly ripped open), and while I held on to a corner of the wall, a large black bug moved rapidly towards me.

A schizophrenia-like area of sleepland

Not feeling well (ongoing headache), I went to bed before 8pm last night. Somewhere during the night, before 2am, I was in a strange area of sleep consciousness where I'm wide awake, and I know I'm asleep and laying in my apartment, but there are other very real 'people' around that really aren't there. Call them hallucinations or schizophrenia-like experiences, but they are as real as this computer.

The perils of physical beauty

As a picture of a beautiful young model I know lays face-up in my kitchen garbage can -- covered in used coffee grounds -- I'm reminded that while physical beauty seems to be a very wonderful and coveted thing here on Earth, some of the most beautiful people I have known are also the most screwed-up people I have ever known. (And I say that with compassion).

The Tao, and riding the waves

The thing I've really gotten during the meditation and lucid dreaming process the last few nights is how much life on Earth really is like the Tao. I clearly remember feeling last night that Lao-Tse really knew his stuff. (Like he needed any validation from me, lol.)

Walk away for a while

I just read this quote from Mel Gibson on mtv.com, about why he got away from acting for seven years, and based on my my own experience, I think it's right on, and well worth sharing:

Unrequited love

(Just a musing here today as my brain seems to be turning into marshmallow from pain-killers.)

I've heard the phrase "unrequited love" so often lately (and have used it myself) I thought I better look it up to see if I really understand what it means. Here's a link to "unrequited love" at Wikipedia, and here's their definition:

Moved my bed

I keep forgetting to mention that the one thing I have done prior to all these new vibration experiences -- three or four separate episodes since the beginning of the year -- was to move my bed.

As I've mentioned before, my neighbors here are very loud, so over the course of a few nights I found an area that seemed to be more quiet at night than the place I was sleeping. I moved my fake-futon over to that area, and I've been sleeping there every night since. I did this a few weeks ago, just after Christmas.

One New Year's resolution

First, a quick thanks to someone who cared enough to put herself out on a limb for me. :) It is much appreciated.

Second, like many other people, I've been thinking about New Year's
resolutions recently, and as far as OBEs go, I need to
re-dedicate myself to validating OBEs with things like the card tests
I've written about on this site before. (Please search the site for
"cards", and you'll find what I'm talking about.)
