Practicing yoga while listening to Native American Indian music

I just finished a yoga session that I performed while listening to some Native American Indian music, specifically a CD named "Songs from the Fourth World". I turned off all the lights, closed the blinds (and of course it's still light here in Alaska), and set up the speakers around me, and listened to the songs while working the different poses.

I managed to aggravate my ailing stomach, but other than that, this was really a very peaceful and wonderful way to practice yoga, and close out the day.

Dream of the death of a friend

I woke up at 3:06 a.m., crying in my sleep as I dreamed about the death of a friend. There are times you think you can handle anything, and mentally you're doing just great, but I was bawling my eyes out, and nearly hyperventilating from the effort.

It's hard to go back to sleep after something like that, but I eventually did. The dreams the rest of the night weren't any worse, but they weren't pleasant, either.

Dreams of a song, being drilled in the head, and a dog named Luther

I was a little sick yesterday, and also felt very "ungrounded" as they would say at TMI, more 'there' than 'here'. If you've never felt ungrounded, common descriptions include feeling "out of it", inability to concentrate, a feeling that you can't wake up, and very likely a desire to vomit. I had all of those yesterday, so I figured last night would be pretty entertaining.

An aborted OBE

Another night house-sitting for a friend, and another OBE, this time about 4am. I accidentally stopped this one short because I was trying to do something else, but here's how it went down:

Another Faith Hill song; intentional sleep-walk

Quick note: I had another dream of a Faith Hill song this morning. I could have easily pulled four lines of the song back with me from the dream world, but I was too lazy, and decided to just enjoy the music and the dream.

One more note: I may try another attempt at intentional sleep-walking this weekend. (This is where my body is sleeping, but my mind is awake, and I can somehow control and move the body from the dream state.) If it seems as dangerous as the last attempt, I will abort the mission asap, and then never do this again.

Dream of a new Guns 'N Roses song

I woke up from a dream at 2:48am where I heard a new Guns N' Roses (GnR) song.

I was on a computer somewhere, listening to a Stevie Nicks tune, and when I pressed an image for another song of hers, this new GnR song with Axl Rose singing started playing. I knew this was a dream, so I listened to it for a little while, and tried to remember the intro music, which was terrific. But then when I became concerned that I couldn't remember all the lyrics, I woke up.

Faith Hill music dream

For the third time in my life (that I can recall), I had a dream featuring a song that I've never heard before. In a way this one was even more bizarre than the others, as it began with me just strumming some strings on a guitar. When I found a tune I liked a little bit Faith Hill magically appears and begins singing lyrics I've never heard before, but it seems like a great little acoustic song.

Dream of a song by Madonna

From a dream recording:

It’s a song, by Madonna, it goes (humming here, trying to recall the tune), and she said something about "Rock 'n roll is here to stay, sometimes you just have to move your feet ... dance, dance, to the beat."

Music lyrics, traffic light, cop

So many dreams lately I can't record half of them...

I'm working on song lyrics in one of them.  In another it's dark out, there's at least four cars, and we come to this traffic light. We all think the light is going to change, so we start creeping through it. Then finally the four of us go through it, and the light never does change. We can all hear each other, and we think "Oops, guess we ran that one."

Straddling the border

One thing I'm now able to do from time to time is to straddle the borderline between being awake and being asleep. What I mean is that in one instant I can be laying here in my bed, in my dark and quiet bedroom, and in the next instant (and by that I mean less than a millisecond) I can be in another world, a dream world, where people are talking, a radio is playing, or a phone is ringing. On a good night I can bounce back and forth between the two worlds several times before falling asleep, and the process is great fun.
