A very nice man died this morning

March 9, 2009

A very nice co-worker died at work this morning. I’m told that he had a heart attack, and the local EMT’s could not do anything to revive him. I don’t know his exact age, but I believe he was in his 50s.

I didn’t know him very well, though we chatted briefly once or twice a week. But he was universally hailed as the nicest man at work.

Without even knowing him very well, right now I feel like I have just been sucker-punched in the gut. This may sound pretty cold, but the way some people at work are, if they die, well, I don’t expect to be affected; but when someone this nice dies, everyone at work just feels horrible. This afternoon several of us spoke about having no desire to work, or to be at work. Right now my heart just goes out to his family.
