Seeing cards in a dream

December 11, 2011

Last night I was feeling very calm, and I was able to relax like I haven't been able to do in a long time. As I thumbed through an old book on Zen, I felt very calm, with no thoughts of the past or future disturbing me.

I thought I might be able to have an OBE, so I set things up for the card test. I did the usual thing, closing my eyes, shuffling the cards, taking one from the deck, placing it face up, walking away, then opening my eyes.

I wasn't able to have an OBE; I got too restless after a while when I laid there and nothing happened. But I did have a short dream sequence that showed three cards: a five of spades, a three of spades, and what I think was a six of diamonds. I don't have any interest right now in seeing cards in dreams, in particular because they have been wrong before, so I didn't get up to look at the card on the counter.

This morning I looked at the card that was face up on the counter, and it was the queen of clubs. Curious about the cards I saw in my dream, I turned over the next card, which was the five of spades. The next one after that was the three of spades, but the one after that was wrong, the two of diamonds, instead of the six I thought I saw.

Again, I don't like to make anything of visions in dreams; other than them being a harbinger of deaths in the family, and a few amazing premonitions (oil spill, airplane), I've found them very hard to interpret. (Even the oil spill and airplane dreams I'm referring to only made sense after the actual event.) I've always been successful when seeing cards in an OBE, but the cards I've seen in dreams have been all over the place, and this was one of the few times there has been any correlation at all.

That being said, I did want to make a note of this.
