A hot future

February 2, 2013

If my dream two nights ago was about a time 30+ years ago, last night's dream was about a time in the future where we've lost the battle with "global warming" (or "climate change", if you prefer).

While visiting an area in northern Illinois, a stretch of highway was a disaster. It had been so hot, half of the road had deteriorated, essentially dry-rotted from the heat, and crumbled away. The dirt on the side of the road was more like dust, and as people drove on it to get onto the single lane highway, their tires blew the dust into the air, making it almost impossible to see.

The people that were there seemed to be doing what they had to do, but it wasn't a pleasant dream at all.
