Heart racing

July 26, 2015

Last night was the first night that I’ve had a “heart racing” incident (known as “Supraventricular Tachycardia,” or SVT) in quite a long time, maybe over a year. I used to worry about these things, but these days I either work/live through them, or I lay down in bed and just focus on the present moment, thinking that if something bad is going to happen (death), it’s going to happen. The doctors have done all they can do -- I’m not going to go through all those tests again -- so one day this is either going to kill me, or not. The only good thing about these events is that they bring me back to the present moment in a very powerful way, and also remind me of this body’s impermanence, also in a very powerful way.
